Description
The small chapel, the only surviving one among the many chapels that once stood within the historic centre of Turi, has been protected and officially recognised since 1980 as a site of particular historical and artistic interest within the context of 18th-century minor sacred architecture.
It is characterised by regular ashlar masonry and consists of a single rectangular space covered by a barrel vault with lunettes. The building features a gable façade and a simple bell gable with a single opening. Inside, the original painting depicting Saint Anne holding the Child Mary is still preserved.
The chapel remains a place of deep devotion, especially on 8 September, when the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated.
