Piazza Silvio Orlandi is one of the most distinctive landmarks in Turi’s historic centre, a true urban gathering place where history, identity and everyday life come together. At the centre of the square, a large circular stone feature preserves symbols of the town’s heritage: Turi’s coat of arms, depicting a bull beneath an oak tree, alongside the emblems of the ancient noble families of Frassineto, Moles and Venusio, all of whom played an important role in the town’s history.

Thanks to its strategic location, the square is one of the main gateways to the Old Town. From here, picturesque narrow streets such as Via San Pietro lead into the historic centre and towards some of Turi’s most important historic buildings, offering visitors a fascinating journey through the town’s past.

Beyond its historical significance, Piazza Silvio Orlandi remains at the heart of local life. Throughout the year, it hosts events, celebrations and community gatherings that bring the centre of Turi to life, from the renowned Ferrovia Cherry Festival to the events of Estate Turese, Turi’s summer programme. Today, the square continues to be a natural meeting place where tradition, culture and community come together.
